2) Don't Hesitate when it comes to shooting.

Too many players beat one player and get an opening, then simply pass the ball off to another player or wait for the defender to get back in position and attempt to beat him/her again. Shoot the ball! Don't hesitate when it comes to shooting. You're never going to Score if you don't shoot. If you find yourself hesitating when you have an open shot, notice this habit, and attempt to correct it over time.

3) Get into Goal scoring areas.

You're not going to score many goals if you're hanging out at the half way line. If you want to score goals you have to get into the heat of the action. If you're a striker get on the end of through balls and crosses. Midfielders need to complete their runs and get into the box. Defenders can even get forward to help out if the situation allows. You will score many goals in your career simply by being in the right place at the right time. Always complete your run. Get into goal scoring areas!

4) Demand the ball when your open.

Let teammates know that you're open. Let them know that you want the ball. Many players don't want the ball when they are open, they are scared to get the ball and have the pressure on them to finish the goal. You need to remove this habit from your game if this is currently your situation. Be confident, demand the ball, and take your chances. You'll never score if you don't try.

5) Always, Technique and Accuracy over power.

You are not going to score nearly as many goals as you could, if all you try to do every time you get a shot, is smash the ball as hard as you can. I realize we all want to rip a blistering shot in to the top corner and put a whole in the back of the net - but do yourself a favour. Focus on accuracy and technique before power; simply place the ball into an open area of the goal instead of trying to blast the ball as hard as you can. Trust me; this will result in many more goals throughout your Soccer career.

Becoming a professional player in any country, at any level, takes long-term dedication and determination to develop yourself as a player. It takes regular and progressive training under qualified accredited coaches. Players must have a positive attitude and good character, and always give a 100 percent effort in all training sessions and matches.

Ask yourself how your situation compares to a youngster who is spending at minimum 10 hours per week under the guidance of a professional coaching structure between the ages of 8 and 18 years old.

3. Positive Attitude - There will be challenging times while following your dream to play football professionally. Times when you will question yourself and ask if it is all worth it. It is important, at such times, to retain a positive attitude. Accept constructive criticism or rejection and use the knowledge gained to improve your game and mental strength.
